Wilhelmsburg Hospital Groß-Sand provides emergency care for the Elbe island of Wilhelmsburg in the south of Hamburg. Our center for emergency and acute medicine is available for you 24 hours a day.

Surgical consultations

Within the framework of various special consultation hours, we are happy to be at your disposal for consultation, diagnostics and therapy decisions. Good to know: In our consultation hours, a specialist, i.e. the chief physician or a senior physician, will take time for you.

Important: Please bring the results and findings of all previous examinations with you to our consultation. You will also need a hospital referral.

Surgical consultation

In the Department of Surgery, we offer our patients pre- and post-discharge special consultation hours. In our consultation hours, a specialist, i.e. the chief physician or a senior physician, takes time for you.

If an operation is necessary, the consultation offers the opportunity to discuss the diagnostics, the surgical procedure and the follow-up treatment in detail. As far as possible, any preliminary examinations that are missing will be performed immediately on an outpatient basis. If necessary, your family doctor will receive detailed information to coordinate further diagnostics. An anesthesiologist will explain the anesthesia procedure to you in detail and we will arrange a fixed surgery date with you.

As a rule, you will be operated on the day of your hospital admission. After some operations, you can leave the hospital on the day of the operation. You will receive detailed behavioral recommendations from us for your home environment. When you are discharged from our short-term surgery, you will be given an outpatient follow-up appointment in our consultation hours.

Consultation hours for accidents at work

Wilhelmsburg Hospital Groß-Sand is one of the clinics in Hamburg that provides round-the-clock care for patients after serious occupational accidents. Initial treatment is followed by follow-up treatment in our Berufsgenossenschaftsambulanz.
The aim is to enable patients to return to work as quickly as possible after an accident at work.Our consultation hours for outpatient follow-up treatment after occupational injuries are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2:00 pm.

No fear of surgery: focus on patient safety

Our surgery is technically equipped to the latest standards. Surgeons, specialized nurses, anesthesiologists and internists work hand in hand in three operating rooms. The recovery room and our interdisciplinary intensive care unit are attached. This ensures short distances and optimal care at all times, even in the case of serious interventions.

Patient safety is a team affair: Our medical equipment is checked and maintained by the staff in the operating theater and the Medical Technology department. Special devices such as an ultrasound scalpel, among others, enable particularly gentle surgical procedures.
